Seven generations of Gautiers as independent winemakers!

Since 1669, the Gautier family has elaborated a selection of highly expressive chenin blanc wines. Our very own "Domaine de la Châtaigneraie" is situated in the heart of the Loire Valley in Rochecorbon and Parçay-Meslay, on the right bank of the Loire River. Our winery is well-known for the richness of the region's soil and the detailed attention we give to the making of our Vouvray wines: dry, semi-dry, sweet and sparkling. In 1981, Benoit Gautier became the newest member of the Gautier family and has been recognized as one of the most talented Vouvray winemakers of his generation, earning numerous national awards and assessed 90+ by Robert Parker and the WineSpectator on several occasions.

"Les caves Gautier", both workplace and place dedicated to wine art

The traditional winemaking procedures, combined with the secrets of the House, contribute to the unique character of Vouvray Gautier's offerings: prestigious wines, boasting character. Members of the Gautier family will be delighted to welcome you at the heart of our chalky cellar in Parçay-Meslay for a commented free tasting, for the pleasure of sharing and the art of living. Make sure you send us an email ( info@vouvraygautier.com / arnaud@vouvraygautier.com ) to secure your visit with one of our English-speaking staff.

Clos la Lanterne

Behind every bottle lays a story and History. For instance, our Clos la Lanterne grows at the eponymous place with exceptional panorama that displays all of the landscape's typical characteristics: its hillsides, troglodyte dwellings and inland waterways. Indeed, the Loire and its tributaries are one of the reasons, leading to the plantation and the development of vineyards along these rivers. Loaded inside the cargo hold of freight river boats, tuffeau stone was routed along the Cher and local rivers towards building sites in the Loire Valley and neighboring regions.

Benoît Gautier - Vouvray 2001 ($11)

Racy Vouvray, with green almond, quince and mineral notes, and a bright, lengthy finish that should unfold nicely in the short term. Nicely done. Drink now through 2004.
